I'm back on my Weight Watchers journey. I must admit, I fell off a little, due to crazy changes at work (my asssitant quit with no warning, so that means twice the work for me), and then my recent trip to Austin (can we talk about the amazing food, not so healthy!) So today after work, I went to get weighed in. Apparently, I haven't been there since January 27th. Ouch!!! So I was really nervous to see how bad I had been without meetings and with my recent trip. So I stepped on the scale and closed my eyes praying it wasn't a huge gain. 3.4 pounds up. Okay. I can handle that. My goal this week is to lose all 3.4 pounds.
When I found out the weather in Austin, Texas, I was so excited to try out a trend that I am seeing everywhere. Palazzo pants!!. . But before I commuted to them, I had to figure out how to wear them with out looking crazy. So I bought the two pairs on the right. I wanted to stay neutral until I feel this trend out. I think that when I wear them, I want to keep it simple with a solid tank. I also think I can pull off the t-shirt with it too! But a fitted tank... I don't think I can pull this off. I think I may be too curvy for this. Has anyone tried this trend? Send me pics showing me how you wore them. I'll post pics if I'm brave enough to wear them out. Tomorrow I am heading to Austin,Texas and although I am super excited, I'm overwhelmed with what I will wear on the plane. Don't judge me but it's something I take very serious. I know I'm no celebrity but I like to look like one when I travel. I am by no means the only one who feels airport fashion should be a class taught to some girls. Author Derek Blasberg wrote a whole chapter about it in his book "Classy." This picture says it all. I'm sorry. I don't want to be that Uggs, Juicy, thong out girl he describes. So I'm going to take a moment to get this right!!! So my first concern is a great pair of sunglasses. I usually prefer sunglasses that you can't see the eyes through and I don't know why but they are the hardest thing to find. I wish I knew where the "Dash" girls found there sunnies because they seem to always get it right. Next, is a great scarf. Scarves are a multipurpose item when flying. It's stylish but it can also be used as a blanket, a pillow, or just to hide your face when you are feeling personal disgust for the smelly man you have to sit next to. What not to wear Even though you may be traveling from cold to warm temperatures, there is no need to go bottomless. Don't be a slob. Don't make it look like you have no respect for yourself or others around you. I get it. You want to be comfortable, but come on! So overall, I like to look to put together, but not overdone. Stay tuned to see what I came up with... Okay so since I got two BirchBoxes this month, I'm doing two reveals. So here is what was in the second box. Okay, so first we have the Atelier Cologne. It's a fresh blend of soft vanilla, romantic jasmine, and bright lime notes. Full size, $75. The next goodie is for the hair. I LOVE trying new hair products. And finally, last from this box, I got these Tea Forte mints. These mints are infused with wellness-promoting organic green tea and herbs. Pack of 3, $9.95. Can't wait for my March BirchBox to come in. It's only my second box but I love this concept. I really hope I get this Air Repair Rescue Balm before my trip next week. I heard it's really important to stay moisturized when traveling and I would love to see how this brand works out. Get your own BirchBox every month by signing up at BirchBox.com. It's only $10 a month and you get a ton of free samples to try out. Don't be afraid of this trend. Like I was. When I first saw overalls showing up on the runway and in magazines, I got nervous. I mean, come on. 1990 called. But we have to stay open minded right? So then they started showing up in stores and I just knew... The time has come to embrace it. To make it work. So I've done my homework, and things are looking up. Literally!! Here's the tricks: stick with heels. To keep this look from looking juvenile, you have to spice it up. A cute wedge (as seen in the first pic) or a cute pair of heel makes it all better. So don't run from its one. Run with it. Or walk slowly in a cute pair of heels in it. Either way, in the words of Tim Gunn, "Make it work." |
